Online first aid courses

Nevada OSHA adopts the federal rule (29 CFR 1910.151(b)) through NAC 618 under NRS Chapter 618: there is no numeric first-aider-to-worker ratio, but employers must ensure one or more adequately trained first-aiders and adequate supplies wherever no clinic or hospital is in near proximity. OSHA reads 'near proximity' as a 3–4 minute response for higher-hazard sites and up to 15 minutes for low-hazard offices.

Nevada childcare rules (NAC 432A, under the Division of Public and Behavioral Health – Child Care Licensing) require every on-duty caregiver to hold first aid and CPR with an infant/child/pediatric component, with adult-only cards not accepted. Certification is due within 90 days of hire and renewed every two years.

Nevada's Good Samaritan law (NRS 41.500) protects anyone who in good faith and gratuitously renders emergency care from civil liability except for gross negligence, and does not apply to a person who caused the original injury or acts for compensation. The same statute grants immunity for gratuitous, good-faith AED use.

Nevada registered nurses renew through the Nevada State Board of Nursing with 30 contact hours of continuing education every two-year cycle, plus a one-time 4-hour bioterrorism course and 4 hours of cultural competency each cycle. Provider-accredited advanced resuscitation courses generally count toward those hours, while BLS is largely an employer and hospital requirement.

In Nevada, care staff in assisted-living facilities, residential facilities for groups, long-term-care facilities and home-health agencies — including CNAs, home health aides and assisted-living staff — must complete hands-on CPR and first-aid certification within 30 days of hire. A recognized, up-to-date certificate meets the requirement and is renewed periodically.

Under the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 424), foster-home applicants must complete agency-approved training that includes basic first aid and CPR, and licensed caregivers must keep current CPR/AED and first-aid certification renewed every two years. This is recognized by the Division of Child and Family Services and county child-welfare agencies.

Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Nevada, delivering evidence-based certification valid for three years. OSHA does not prohibit online training for the workplace requirement but recommends hands-on skills practice (OSHA 3317), so blended training with a practical skills assessment is accepted.
